Rob Pepper is a London-based artist who uses drawing to capture an essence of place. He draws every day, taking inspiration from his surroundings, and in doing so, has developed a fascinating, ever-changing canvas for our times. He collaborates in the conceptual development of the artwork with his partner Aimie Littler.
He started selling his work at Camden Market at the age of 18 and worked there, on and off until he was offered his first solo exhibition in Melbourne, Australia in 2002, at the age of 25. In 2003 after his second exhibition in Australia he returned to London to take up a residency at the Florence Trust Studios. This year long placement led him to another residency and a part-time teaching post at London’s Art Academy where he still works as head of Studio Practice.
Since 2007 he has taken on large scale commissions with Aimie Littler including redesigning the facade of the Old Highbury Station. He has recently exhibited his paintings in Liberty, and London’s SW1 Gallery.
The Drawing Diary began in April 2005 and Rob posted a drawing everyday until the end of 2008 when it was hacked and destroyed. Over these 4 years it followed his journeys around the USA, Mexico and Europe alongside the everyday life of a young London artist. After a year and a half break it’s back again and this time may not be updated everyday but it will continue to reflect Rob’s drawing practice.
